Open your eyes to your potential

Set goals...and publish them!

 Welcome to a new month. I am sure that most of us did not set goals for the month that just passed. What about does that did set goals...where they realistic goals? Were the goals you set achieved? These are questions only you can answer.

This month is going to be a month of setting goals surely....

A valid plan for success must include not just goals, but published goals too. Once you've set your goals, print out the page and keep it on the wall near where you work on your SFI business. i.e. Publish them!

This may seem silly to you, but psychologically it can be a game-changer. No one knows why exactly, but publishing your goals seems to launch activity in your powerful subconscious mind that seems to literally "pull" you towards the achievement of your goals!

Studies on goal-setting have revealed truly amazing statistics. For example, a study of college students who used goal-setting in college found they eventually landed in the top percentile of all earners!

Setting goals is so easy to do, yet 95% of people never set goals. They just never take the time. And who do you think are the most successful, highest-earning people in the world? The 5% group of course! If you want to be in the 5% group, don't even think about ignoring goal-setting!

I Got Paid This Week. SFI Rocks!

The Potential Of Internet Income (Part 1)

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

MOORE'S LAW

Moore's Law describes the falling cost of digital technology. When my daughter was born in 1980, the price of the memory chip for a home PC was $1,000.00 (not the whole PC, mind you, just the memory). When my daughter was one year old, the same amount of memory cost only $500.00. When she was three years old, the price was $250.00. When she started the first grade, the same amount of memory cost only $62.50. When she graduated from high school in 1998, the price of that same amount of memory had fallen to less that $0.25. Now, as she begins her junior year in college, the cost for the same amount of memory as in that original PC is just pennies. I assure you that nothing else we have purchased over her lifetime has decreased in cost anything like that! We, of course, upgraded the amount of memory we used over the years. Each time we upgraded, we spent about the same amount of money but got more and more computing power. So, what really happened was that our computing power increased by four times every three years for the same cost.

Gordon Moore, one of the co-founders of Intel Corporation, made mathematical observations in the 1960's of the engineering practices which allowed miniaturization in semiconductor technology. This miniaturization applies to processors and other computer components as well as memory chips. What he observed mathematically is that computers can be made four times more powerful every three years for the same cost. Some argue that this same formula has held true for a full century, if you include the mechanical computers of the early 1900's and the old-fashioned transistors that followed.

If you knew that you could get four times more raw materials every three years with no increase in cost in a given business, would you want to get into that business? The overwhelming answer everywhere is, of course, a resounding "yes!"

All businesses, even traditional brick and mortar businesses, must market their goods and services. Because businesses look for the lowest cost to perform their processes, more and more marketing information and marketing processes, even for brick-and-mortar businesses, will become digital.

Moore's Law ensures that Internet businesses, especially Internet marketing, will continue to grow and flourish at an astounding rate. Will Moore's Law continue to hold true in the future? Can engineers keep making computer chips cheaper? Intel's engineers assure us that Moore's Law will continue to operate for several more device generations, if not indefinitely. ACCEPTANCE OF DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTS

The next factor that ensures continued growth for Internet businesses is the acceptance by consumers of digital environments. People have taken to Cyberspace. Despite the many predictions to the contrary, people have warmed up to digital environments with enthusiasm. Many Web communities have been formed and their participants report feeling all warm and cozy in those digital environments. Participants have developed a strong sense of identity with some of the digital communities. As Moore's Law continues to operate, our technology becomes more and more capable of producing engrossing digital environments in which even larger numbers of people will enthusiastically participate. Online communities are forming in much the same way that communities have formed in the physical world throughout history—only much faster. The success stories of Yahoo! and eBay and others make it pure folly to think that brick-and-mortar business will go on as usual, unaffected by the Internet.

CONVERGENCE

The third factor assuring a prosperous future for Internet entrepreneurs is convergence. Simply defined, convergence is the coming together of separate things. Convergence is now occurring at both the industry level and the consumer level. On the industry level, computing, communications, and media companies are merging to form such multimedia ventures as MSNBC and Disney's Go Network. On the consumer level, new devices are being used to combine computing with phones and televisions. In the very near future, consumers will replace their phones, TVs, and PCs with one central media center (which may have several satellite devices for convenience and portability). Even our money is fast becoming digital, as we have automatic bank deposits of our earnings while we buy things with credit and debit cards. What this means is that digital products and processes become more and more important as the Internet gets closer and closer to people's everyday lives.

THE POTENTIAL

These three factors—Moore's Law, acceptance of digital environments, and convergence—assure us that the potential of the Internet for the home-based entrepreneur is nothing less than incredible. In fact, the belief in these three factors has been driving our economy for some time now. Venture capitalists are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into purely digital ventures. Internet Money Tree

Some People say that money do not grow on tree…I beg to disagree!

With millions of people online worldwide and a new generation being raised with the internet as a primary means of information, entertainment and commerce, the information superhighway is here to stay.

Many have attempted to sell online in the past. Many others have developed web sites in hopes of attracting throngs of visitors. There have been success stories and there have been not-so-successful stories. If you are the latter group, take heart!.

There is more than one way to skin a cat. And if you have already found ways to make money online, I hope this press release will open your eyes to opportunities that you may not be aware of. Why not pick all the fruits you can?

Opportunity #1 -  Links for Sale

If you own a web site with a Google page rank of 6 or higher, there are plenty of people who are willing to spend money to have a link on your web site. Simply Put a small snippet of HTML code on your site and certain keywords on your page will be automatically highlighted with a blue link. When you roll your mouse over the link, a text based advertisement appears. And guess what happens if a visitor clicks that link...that's right! Money in your pocket.

Opportunity #3 - ''Affiliate This''

Much nis has been made over the now famous Amazon.com associate program, where web sites can earn commissions off sales sent to Amazon from their site. Some people are earning big bucks for sending thousands of dollars worth of sales through Amazon links. But what about the rest of us? There is good news!

There are literally THOUSANDS of companies offering affiliate programs on the web today.
Whatever is the niche of you site, there are products and or services offered by an online merchant with an affiliate program. Is your site about fishing? Affiliate with sporting goods and outdoors merchants. Is your site about legal issues? Find merchants who will pay you to refer people who need a lawyer. Do you write about internet marketing? There are hundreds of eBooks covering just every area of this specialty! Find affiliate programs that fit with what you are trying to accomplish.Since you are the expert at your site, your advice to your visitors will be much appreciated. Try Linkshare.com or CJ.com as starting points to find merchants to affiliate with.

Opportunity #4 - ''The Writer Within''

What is the focus of your site? Is it Golf? If so you probably know a little bit about selecting the proper club. Is it dogs? If so you could probably tell others a thing or two about training a puppy. Is it health? If that is the case, you might know something about the benefits of multivitamins. So what is the point? Well it has been said that there is at least ONE book in every person (including people who can't write a lick!). I am not suggesting that you compile a manuscript and hustle the streets looking for a publisher to put your book in every Barnes and Noble in the world. This is the internet age and ANYONE can become a digital publisher overnight.

Opportunity #5 - ''Sign Them Up''

so your web site gets 10 visits per day? Maybe you receive 100 visits per day? Do you receive 1000? How about more? whatever your visit count is, what happens to a visitor when they surf your site? Do you know who they are? Do you do everything to make sure they come back? If you aren't collecting email addresses on your site, you are missing out on an incredible opportunity to grow a mailing list that can pay back fantastic dividends!

Find any reason you can to get people on your mailing list. Offer weekly tips in your area of expertise. Tell them how to make money online Show them a way to build a better mousetrap. Help people find a solution to their problem and they will want to listen to whatever you have to say. And once you have got them signed up on your list, follow up with them by sending newsletters on a regular basis. Be conversational, sharing a piece of yourself with your audience. Build a rapport with them and they will follow you anywhere. A newsletter allows you to invite people back to your site and read your latest article. It provides an opportunity to tell people about a new product that you are offering. And if you are truly providing a valuable service, it builds good will toward you and your web site.

The opportunities outlined here are just a tip to the iceberg! The longer i am online and the more networking i do with others the more opportunity i see. To be successful as an entrepreneur, a person must have a combination of various traits, including discipline, self-confidence, ambition and flexibility. But being the right kind of person isn't the only thing that contributes to an entrepreneur's success. In fact, environment is an important factor. If you are considering starting a business from home, this is even more important. Let's take a look at some of the practical aspects of being an entrepreneur that you need to consider before opening up shop.

Space

Most experts recommend that you have an area of your home that you can dedicate exclusively to your business if you're going to work at home.

From a psychological standpoint, having a separate work space helps create a boundary between your work life and your personal life.

From a financial standpoint, having a space that you use exclusively for your business allows you to take the home office deduction on your taxes.

If you don't even have a spare corner where you can set up a desk and you plan to work from your couch, bed or dining room table, it may be difficult to get out of the relaxation mindset and work effectively or to get the distance from other family members that you need in order to focus.

Peace and Quiet

If your current job schedule means that you're always away from home at the same days and times, it's difficult to know whether those days and times will provide the peace and quiet that you need to work once you substitute home-based employment for outside employment.

If you live in an apartment, for example, you may have neighbours home during the day who will distract you with their noise or their social visits.
Or perhaps there's a construction site near your home that's perfectly quiet in the evenings and on weekends, but unbearably noisy during regular work hours.
Maybe you live on a busy street where the daytime traffic is noisy.

Of course, if you're the type of person who can block out noise or distract yourself from it with some music, a white noise machine or the drone of the TV in the background, you won't need to worry about these things. Other people, however, need near-complete silence to work effectively.


Also, if you expect to spend a lot of time on the phone with clients, background noise can detract from your professional image. HELP OTHERS....HELP YOURSELF

One of my longest standing male friends told me something a few days ago that really bothered me and provided the basis for this article. He said that, for many years, he supported the United Way, various churches, and a lot of local charities with generous donations. But now, after all this time giving to these groups, he said, I 've never gotten any benefit from any of them so I'm going to stop supporting them all.? I was distressed. Does my friend really feel when he gives something he expects to get some monetary thing in return? That started my thinking about why any of us do what we do.

What is the reason for any home-based entrepreneur to put in the long hours and assume the sometimes great risks they do? Home-based operators are innovators, described in the dictionary as someone who helps to open up a new line of research, technology, or art. Our businesses all require technology, and the way we present it to our customers involves an element of art. Isn't a well-designed Website an art form? And there are many reasons we do what we do. Many want to be their own boss, escape office politics and the corporate rat-race, avoid endless traffic congestion, or get rid of health-destroying stress associated with most real jobs. Have you thought, however, that in addition to all these reasons, a significant benefit is you're doing something productive that helps your customers in some way and gives meaning to your life? We do hope to make money, of course, but this is only one reason we take on the great responsibility of self-employment.

I have seen Pinterest in several searches recently, but had no idea what it was. After looking at the site I am convinced that it has not only personal value, but it may be helpful to home based entrepreneurs for promoting their businesses. I have asked for an invitation as explained later. This tool review is about Pinterest and some ways you may be able to use it.

Using computer talk, Pinterest is a kind of virtual board where you can pin things of interest to you and then share them with others. Secrets of Facebook Marketing

If you are an entrepreneur growing a small business, you've certainly heard how important it is to have a Facebook page.

A lot of businesses big and small do a pretty good job of designing pages and racking up a huge number of Likes. But many fail to follow-through and capitalize on their early efforts.

Savvy business owners know they need to continually refresh the content of their pages. That keeps customers engaged and coming back. These marketers also churn out very effective targeted ads to reach more of the right customers.

While some large advertisers have recently questioned Facebook's advertising effectiveness, it can be the most effective option for small businesses

It's not all that difficult, but it takes some effort and a different way of thinking to succeed. These ideas will help get you started on your first or next  killer campaign on Facebook.

You want people to Like your business, of course. But you also want them talking about you. It's a way of informing you how many fans are returning to your page and sharing what they see and read with their friends.

As an example, take a look at the Facebook pages of Dell and Hewlett-Packard. HP boasts 1.8 million Likes, compared to Dell's 1.5 million. Dell, however, has three times as many customers talking about its page 33,889 compared to HP's 11,584.

So how do you keep customers engaged?

Maintain a very active profile. Post updates every day and as often as possible. Include photos and videos. It's fine to tell customers about your newest products  but don't give them the hard sell.

Your Facebook page is about maintaining a conversation and building interest in your brand. Post non-promotional items at times. Comment on a funny news story, for example.

Apps such as HootSuite and Tweetdeck can help you schedule messages to Facebook and other social media platforms so you don't have to be chained to your computer. Facebook's metrics will tell you which day of the week most people visit your page. "Show up" that day with great new content.

Ask customers questions. Although it's a lot more work for you, fans will become more engaged if you allow them to post on your wall. Ask them to send in stories and to post photos and videos of them using your product, if appropriate.

People love freebies, discounts and contests. Give out a special promo code once a week that entitles users to a free sample or a discount. Throw out a brain-teaser or trivia question and offer a prize to the first correct guesser.

Check your page a few times a day to interact. Try to answer questions and respond proactively and positively to complaints as quickly as you can.

As time goes by, you'll learn a lot about the interests and demographics of your followers. That's when you want to experiment with creating targeted ads. They're a great way to grab even more eyeballs for your page. Users will see an ad for your business' Facebook page on the corner of their profile.

The people who see your ad are likely to have friends who share that interest and have already liked your page. New customers will see their friend's name and be more interested in your business.

These ads will cost you, but you can manage how much you pay each day. Facebook offers tools to monitor how effective your ads are. They also offer examples of success stories about the power of marketing to a Facebook audience of your own creation.

A Minneapolis portrait and wedding photographer's investment of $600 in a Facebook ad campaign generated nearly $40,000 of revenue. Ads allowed him to target women aged 24-30 in the Twin Cities whose relationship status on Facebook indicated they were engaged.

A regional self-storage business saw a 50 percent increase in rentals after targeting ads to college students who were about to break for the summer.

Facebook makes it easy to tweak ads and try different combinations of text and pictures. Even when ads are working great, you want to change them up every few days to keep interest high.

Someday, your customers will come to see your page as more of a friend than a business. When that happens, pat yourself on the back  and then get back to work!
